Green Ants

We all know these guys… and we have all been stung by them I am sure. 5-6mm, black with metallic green head, distinctive appearance and odour.

Typically they nests in small colonies under paths and among rockeries feed mainly on vegetable materials and can inflict a painful sting.

Green Ant Nest

The green ants nests are distinctive, the size of the granule the green ants excavate is unique.

Green Ants can be controlled very well if all the nests are treated.

Nests are often found on the edges of paths, under pot plants and in established tree roots.

Green Ant Treatment

Don’t panic!! We have a chemical specifically designed to treat this ant. They take the chemical back to their nest and that’s that.

Big Headed Ant | Coastal Brown Ant | Paver Ant

This very small ant is an import from South Africa and is related to the Fire ant, Singapore ant, Ginger ant and other species. It is easily recognised by its soldier ant which has a very large head. (Hence big headed ant) The problem sometimes is that the soldiers are scarce. (About every 50 to 100 ants).

How to recognise the Big Headed Ant, Coastal Brown Ant & Paver Ant

They are very small, often ginger or dark in colour with the tell tale soldier head being larger than the rest. They LOVE water and as a result you will find them in your sink, kettle, bath, under pot plants, around drippers and sprinklers in gardens and anywhere there is a water source. I have even been told by clients that they showed up in wet washing in the laundry basket, a glass of water next to the bed and even in one lady’s hair after she washed it but went to bed whilst is was still wet!!! Another common one is they kick up the sand between pavers and along the edge of buildings where the concrete path meets the house/unit.

MORE ANTS

Indoor Black Ant

(not to be confused with the tiny black Singapore Ant)

This little guy often appears out of the back of your pantry, light fitting, hole in a corner and is often seen tracking up the outside wall into the roof space. He gives the impression sometimes that he lives outside and is coming in when in most cases he is in the roof space and is coming out.

Indoor Black Ant Treatment

This guy is the hardest to get especially if you have a flat roof (no access hole) or if your roof space has insulation. Thankfully we have developed a way of treating them easily and safely that works. So much so that we give you a 12 month warranty inside on them.

Meat Ant or Bull Ant

This is one that is in large numbers, black, about 1cm (1/2 inch) in length and his nest is usually situated on a bare patch of ground with lots of small holes in it. THIS GUY BITES (AND IT HURTS)

Meat Ant or Bull Ant Treatment

This guy is easy to fix whilst being in-expensive.

The Desert Ant, Pharaoh Ant, Hairy Ant And Common Black Ant Bring Up The Rear

The common black ant makes little holes every couple of feet and join these holes with thousands of little black ants.

The Desert ant make mounds with a ‘coin’ slot on the top (Often on the nature strip) which are usually always joined together with other nests. Desert ants come in different colours but usually black and they are not known to bite. They will however as will the small black ants make very long trips to find food. (Or the dog bone)

The Hairy ant likes pot plants and hanging baskets whilst the Pharaoh ant is not fussed. All in all we have some answers for all of them.

Treatment

This is the same as the meat ant.  We also give a 6 month warranty on this ant.
